Banana cake topped with chocolate

Give a special touch to a simple banana cake, top with chocolate and serve it in a family snack.

Ingredients

  • For the cake:
  • 2 medium bananas
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate powder
  • 100 grams / (3 1/2 ounces) all-purpose flour
  • 150 grams / (5 1/3 ounces) sugar
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon liquid caramel
  • For the topping:
  • 75 grams / (2 2/3 ounces) dark chocolate
  • 75 ml / (5 tablespoons) whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon margarine

    Directions

    Step 1


    1. For the cake:
    2. Grease a bundt cake pan (24 x 8 centimeters / (9 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches) with margarine and dust with some flour.

    Step 2


    1. Peel and cut the bananas into slices. Place the banana in a blender and blend on high until creamy.

    Step 3


    1. In an electric mixer, beat on medium speed the eggs, sugar and the lemon zest until a creamy and homogeneous mixture. Add the grinded bananas, liquid caramel, chocolate powder and mix for 3 to 4 minutes until well incorporated. Reduce the mixer speed to low, add the flour mixed with the baking powder and beat until a quite creamy mixture.

    Step 4


    1. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 35 minutes (the time depends on the oven).

    Step 5


    1. When the cake is cooked, remove from oven and unmold onto a plate.

    Step 6


    1. For the topping:
    2. Put the chocolate cut into pieces and the margarine in a bowl and melt for 1 minute in the microwave. Remove from microwave and stir with a fork. Pour the cream and mix everything well until a creamy texture.

    Step 7


    1. With a spatula, spread the chocolate cream over the cake and serve.
