HOW TO MAKE EASY TUNA RICE

Step 1: Drain the tuna and flake it with a fork; set aside.

Step 2: In a large saucepan, add the olive oil, the chopped onion, the chopped garlic and the bay leaf. Sauté over low heat until the onion start to turn slightly golden. Remove the bay leaf, add the tuna and season with a little salt and pepper. Stir and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 3: Add the rice, stir and pour the water (about 600 ml (2 1/2 cups). Boil over medium-high heat. When starts boiling, reduce to low heat and cook the rice for about 10 to 12 minutes.

Step 4: When the rice is almost cooked, add the grated cheese and mix in the rice and tuna. Turn off the heat, season with a little more pepper and serve.

RECIPE TIPS

After the rice is cooked, turn off the heat, cover de pan and let the rice rest for about 5 minutes.

We usually use long-grain rice or medium-grain rice but you can use another type of rice. Long-grain rice is looser while medium-grain rice is creamier and absorb much more the flavors.
