HOW TO MAKE MASHED POTATO BEEF CASSEROLE

Step 1: In a large saucepan, add the olive oil and the chopped onion. Sauté on a low heat until the onion start to turn golden brown. Add the ground beef and season with salt, nutmeg, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Stir, cover the pan with a lid and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.

Step 2:
For the mashed potato:
Peel and wash the potatoes. In a large pot, add the potatoes with water seasoned with salt. Boil over high heat. When starts boiling, reduce to medium heat and cook the potatoes for about 20 to 25 minutes. When the potatoes are cooked, remove the pan from heat, drain them and mash with a potato masher. Season with margarine, nutmeg, pepper, lemon juice and milk. Stir with a wooden spoon and place back on the stove over low heat. When starts bubbling, turn off the heat.

Step 3: Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF).

Step 4: In a baking dish, place a layer of mashed potato, a layer of beef and another layer of mashed potato.
