Sericaia is a creamy Portuguese dessert, with a delicious combination of ingredients like milk, lemon peel, sugar, flour, eggs and cinnamon! It only takes 20 minutes to bake in the oven!
I learned to love this recipe because of my grandmother! It was one of her favorite Portuguese desserts, which she used to make when she wanted to gather the family for lunch. She also made other desserts like Arroz Doce (Rice Pudding), Tigelada (3-Ingredient Portuguese Dessert) or Homemade Flan!
I usually make this Sericaia recipe exactly as my grandmother used to, but sometimes, to add a little more flavor, I season the milk with cinnamon stick and a pinch of salt. It's delicious either way, but you can combine the two ingredients if you prefer.
With or without these two ingredients, you'll have a fluffy, creamy Sericaia full of typical Portuguese flavors. Let it cool after taking it out from the oven, take a generous spoonful, and let me know how it turned out! If you have any leftovers, store the Sericaia in the refrigerator!
Quick and easy Portuguese desserts to serve after a Sunday family lunch: Portuguese Vermicelli Pudding, Pastel de Nata (Portuguese Custard Tarts), Serradura (Portuguese Sawdust Pudding), and Farófias (Traditional Portuguese Dessert).

Step 2: Turn off the heat and let it cool until warm.
Step 3: Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF).
Step 4: Separate the yolks from the whites. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and store in the refrigerator.

Step 6: Pour the cream in a baking dish and sprinkle with cinnamon powder (enough to completely cover the Sericaia). Bake for about 20 minutes.
Step 7: Remove from the oven, let cool to room temperature and serve.
RECIPE TIPS
1. If you want to add a little more flavor, season the milk with a cinnamon stick and a pinch of salt.
2. Place the oven rack in the middle. This allows the hot air to circulate evenly throughout the dessert, allowing for even cooking.
3. If you have any leftovers or want to save the dessert for later, store it in the refrigerator (it's best to store it in an airtight container to maintain its quality).
