Ingredients

  • 200 grams (7 ounces) minced beef
  • 200 grams (7 ounces) minced pork
  • 50 ml (1/4 cup) olive oil
  • 100 grams (3 1/2 ounces) raw bacon
  • 1 medium onion
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • Nutmeg (to taste)
  • 200 grams (7 ounces) puff pastry
  • Grated cheese (to taste)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg yolk
  • A few drops of lemon juice
  • Salt (to taste)
  • For the béchamel sauce:

  • 200 ml (about 1 cup) milk
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • Nutmeg (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)

Directions

  1. For the béchamel sauce:
    Place the butter in a saucepan and heat over low heat. When the butter start to melt, add the flour with a little milk and whisk until the flour is dissolved. Gradually add the rest of the milk, increase to medium heat and stir until a homogeneous and creamy mixture, about 10 minutes.
  2. Turn off the heat and season with a little salt, pepper and nutmeg. Mix the seasonings in the sauce and let cool. Béchamel sauce recipe.
  3. Put the olive oil, chopped onion, chopped garlic and the bacon cut into strips in a frying pan and cook over low for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the minced meat and season with a little salt, pepper, nutmeg and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF). Line a pie pan (24 centimeters (9 1/2 inches)) with the puff pastry and prick the bottom with a fork.Pie pan lined with puff pastry
  5. In a bowl, combine the béchamel sauce with the egg yolk and a few drops of lemon juice.
  6. Drain the meat with a colander. Pour the meat over the pieMeat and bacon over a pie and cover with the béchamel mixture. Sprinkle with grated cheeseMeat, bacon, béchamel sauce and grated cheese over a pie and bake until golden, about 25 to 30 minutes.
  7. Turn off the oven and serve.
