Sweets are a must on festive seasons. These orange dreams are no exception and are often prepared during the Christmas season. Unlike some sweets, these orange dreams are very simple to prepare and have excellent presentation! Bon appetit!!!

HOW TO PREPARE ORANGE DREAMS:

Beat the eggs with the sugar and the orange zest until obtain a homogeneous and creamy mixture. Pour the orange juice and beat for 2 to 3 minutes until it's nicely incorporated. Add the flour mixed with the baking powder and beat until creamy.
Heat the oil on a deep fryer. When the oil is hot, add small portions of the dough with a spoon and fry them until golden. When they are fried, remove them with a skimmer and place on a plate with absorbent paper. Place the sugar on a plate, coat the dreams in the sugar and serve.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • Zest of one orange
  • 100 ml (1/2 cup) orange juice
  • 200 grams (1 1/2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 150 grams (2/3 cup) granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Sugar
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. In an electric mixer, beat on medium speed the eggs together with the sugar and the orange zest until obtain a homogeneous and creamy mixture. Pour the orange juice and beat for 2 to 3 minutes until it's nicely incorporated. Reduce the mixer speed to low, add the flour mixed with the baking powder and beat until creamy.
  2. Heat the oil on a deep fryer. When the oil is hot, add small portions of the dough with a spoon and fry them until golden. When they are fried, remove them with a skimmer and place on a plate with absorbent paper.
  3. Place the sugar on a plate, coat the dreams in the sugar and serve.
