HOW TO MAKE WALNUT AND APPLE CAKE
In a food processor grind the walnut kernels until obtain a fine powder.
Beat the eggs and the sugar until obtain a homogeneous mixture. Add the grinded walnut (150 grams (5 1/3 ounces)) and mix for 3 to 4 minutes until it’s nicely incorporated. Add the flour mixed with the baking powder and beat until a homogeneous and quite creamy mixture.
Wash and peel the apples. Remove the seeds and cut into thin slices. Pour the dough into the prepared pan and garnish with the apple slices. Sprinkle with the remaining grinded walnut

- 175 grams (6 1/4 ounces) walnut kernels
- 3 large eggs
- 150 grams (2/3 cup) granulated sugar
- 100 grams (3/4 cup) all-purpose flour
- 2 red apples
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF). Grease a round cake pan (20 x 7 centimeters (8 x 2 3/4 inches)) with margarine and sprinkle with some chocolate powder.
- In a food processor grind the walnut kernels until obtain a fine powder.
- In an electric mixer, beat on medium speed the eggs and the sugar until obtain a homogeneous mixture. Add the grinded walnut (150 grams (5 1/3 ounces)) and mix for 3 to 4 minutes until it’s nicely incorporated. Reduce the mixer speed to low, add the flour mixed with the baking powder and beat until a homogeneous and quite creamy mixture.
- Wash and peel the apples. Remove the seeds and cut into thin slices.
- Pour the dough into the prepared pan and garnish with the apple slices. Sprinkle with the remaining grinded walnut and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes (the time depends on the oven).
- When the cake is cooked, remove from the oven and unmold onto a plate. Let cool to room temperature and serve.
