HOW TO MAKE APPLE PIE
Step 1:
For the pastry: Mix the flour, the margarine cut into cubes and the sugar in a food processor until a fine powder.
Place the mixture in a bowl and pour the water. Knead with your hands until obtain a compact mixture.
Step 2: Place the pastry over a table and mold it in a square shape. Wrap the pastry in cling film and refrigerate for approximately 45 minutes.
Step 3: Remove the pastry from the fridge and place it on a table over tracing paper. Roll out the pastry with the help of a rolling pin. Line a pie pan with the pastry (along with the tracing paper). Prick the bottom of the pastry with a fork and set aside.
Step 4: Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF).
Step 5:
For the filling: Wash, peel and cut the apples into thin slices. Place them in a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice to not oxidize. Pour the liquid caramel and sprinkle with the brown sugar. Mix everything well and fill the pie with this mixture. Sprinkle with the cinnamon teaspoon and bake about 25 minutes until browned.
Step 6: Remove the pie from the oven, unmold to a plate and serve the pie preferably cold. Store in the fridge.
TIPS FOR APPLE PIE
Place the oven rack in the middle. This allows the hot air to circulate evenly around the pie, resulting in even cooking.

- 200 grams (1 1/2 cups) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 100 grams (1/2 cup) cold margarine
- 50 ml (1/4 cup) cold water
- 3 large apples
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon liquid caramel
- For the pastry:
Mix the flour, the margarine cut into cubes and the sugar in a food processor until a fine powder. Place the mixture in a bowl and pour the water. Knead with your hands until obtain a compact mixture. - Place the pastry over a table and mold it in a square shape. Wrap the pastry in cling film and refrigerate for approximately 45 minutes.

I love this! I’m making it for the holidays. I have my own gluten free pie crust and I use honey instead of sugar and leave out the caramel. So tasty. Reminds me of my Portuguese sweet tooth.
