Ingredients

  • For the pastry:
  • 200 grams / (7 ounces) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 100 grams / (3 1/2 ounces) cold margarine
  • 50 ml / (3 1/3 tablespoons) cold water
  • For the filling:
  • 3 large apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon liquid caramel
  • Juice of half a lemon

    Directions

    Step 1

    Step 2


    1. Place the pastry over a table and mold it in a square shape. Wrap the pastry in cling film and refrigerate for approximately 45 minutes.

    1. Remove the pastry from the fridge and place it on a table over tracing paper. Roll out the pastry with the help of a rolling pin (sprinkle the rolling pin with a little flour).Apple pie | Food From Portugal Line a pie pan (24 centimeters / (9 1/2 inches)) with the pastry (along with the tracing paper).     1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC / (350ºF).

    2. Wash, peel and cut the apples into thin slices. Place them in a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice to not oxidize. Pour the liquid caramel and sprinkle with the brown sugar. Mix everything well and fill the pie with this mixture.Apple pie | Food From Portugal Sprinkle with the cinnamon teaspoon and bake about 25 minutes until browned.

    Step 6


    1. Remove the pie from the oven, unmold to a plate and serve the pie preferably cold. Store in the fridge.
