INGREDIENTS FOR HOMEMADE PUMPKIN JAM

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PUMPKIN JAM

Step 1: In a large saucepan, add the pumpkin cut into pieces, light brown sugar, orange peel, cinnamon stick and the orange juice. Mix everything very well and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Homemade pumpkin jam step 1 and 2

Step 2: When starts boiling, reduce to medium heat and cook the pumpkin for about 25 minutes. Homemade pumpkin jam step 3

Step 3: Turn off the heat and remove the orange peel and the cinnamon stick. Using a hand blender, blend the pumpkin pieces until smooth. Homemade pumpkin jam step 4

Step 4: Place the pan back on the stove over low heat for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the jam from sticking to the bottom of the pan. (To check if the jam is ready, pour some of the jam onto a plate and run a spoon through the middle of the jam. If it leaves a trail like a road, the jam is ready.) Homemade pumpkin jam step 5

Step 5: When the jam starts to thicken, turn off the heat. Pour the jam into glass jars and allow to cool completely. Reserve the jam on the fridge.

    I just made this with a couple of homegrown red kuri squash, which took a while to prep. But it was definitely worth it. It’s addictive! Even my husband likes it. I will be making this delight every autumn.
